VIAN – Trailing for most of the game it took until the bottom of the seventh inning to decide a winner and a 2-run dinger sealed the deal for Vian against the Warner Eagles.
Riley Ellis helped himself to the win with a 2-run home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the win for the Wolverines.
The Eagles were up 3-1 after three innings and added another in the sixth to move out to a 4-1 lead.
Austin Spradlin was on the hill for Warner and held the Wolverines to just one run through the first five innings. In the bottom of the sixth the Wolverine bats came alive for three runs to tie the score at 4-4 after six.
Ellis doubled to center to lead off the inning and Manny Terrill followed with another two base hit to score Ellis and cut the lead to 2 runs.
Drake Collins followed Terrill with a single left, scoring Terrell to bring the game within 1 run at 4-3.
Collins advanced to second on a passed ball and later went to third on a Texas league pop to left that fell short of the Eagles left fielder Landon Lee.
A wild pitch to the next batter scored Collins to tie the score at 4-4.
In the top of the seventh inning with Ellis on the mound for starter Mike Polecat, Lubbock Drake led off with a single for Warner. Ellis came back to strike out Lee for the first out of the inning.
Memphis Swimmer followed with a walk to put two runners on for the Eagles. Ethan Glover grounded to third for the second out, but Jaxson Cash walked to load the bases for Warner.
With Austin Spradlin at bat Ellis sat him down with a strike out on three pitches to end the inning and leave the score knotted at 4-all.
In the bottom of the frame for the Wolverines Polecat led off with a fly out to center followed by a Collins single.
Ellis would give himself the win on the third pitch of his at-bat with a shot that cleared the left field fence, scoring himself and Collins for the 6-4 walk-off win.
The Eagles (4-5) return home Tuesday to take on Panama (6-1), and Vian remains home to play Haskell (6-5)
