VIAN- The Vian Wolverines (24-8) pushed the winning run in the final inning to walk off a 2-1 win against the 16-9 Panama Razorbacks.

Vian’s starting pitcher Destry Bethel went 5 innings allowing just 3 hits while striking out 5. The Razorbacks employed 4 pitchers over the seven innings with Caldwell picking up the loss in the bottom of the seventh.

After a scoreless five innings the Razorbacks finally broke the ice in the top of the 6th when Wolverines center fielder Dreighton Fletcher bobbled the handling of a ground ball off the bat of Dylan Restine just enough to allow Caleb Brewer to score for the first run of the game.

Restine was caught in a run-down between 2nd and 3rd to end the inning for the Razorbacks but not before thy would take the 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the inning, a Connor Collins walk from Pocola pitcher Brewer, got a runner on for the Wolverines. With Bethel at the plate a wild pitch advanced Collins to 2nd. Collins then stole 3rd and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by Bethel and the score was tied once again at 1 each.

A one-two-three inning by Pocola in the top of the seventh kept the score tied 1-1.

In the bottom of the inning Fletcher reached on an error by Talan Fairless. He went on to steal second and advance to third on a pass ball.

This set the table for Diego Ramos. The lefty came through with a walk-off single to right, scoring Fletcher and ending the game.

The Wolverines will begin their playoff series Thursday at home against Nowata while the Razorbacks return home against Afton.
