VIAN – It didn’t take long to see how the game would go Thursday night in Vian as the Wolverines (5-2) took on the Henryetta Knights.
With 7 minutes remaining in the opening period, Masyn Wright scrambled 42 yards for the Wolverines for the opening score.
With under a minute left in the period Wright scrambled for another score, this time for 8-yards to get the Wolverines on top by 14 points.
With 6 minutes remaining in the half Draighton Fletcher rushed from his own 40 yard line, 60 yards for Vian’s third touchdown of the game.
Before the half would end the Knights would get on the board with a rushing TD to get within 2 scores 21-7 at the break.
On a second and 4, Fletcher took it in from the 25 for his second of the night to give the Wolverines a 28-7 lead.
With 4:18 left in the third Vian rushed for yet another score and added a 2-point conversion on a fake extra point for a 36-7 lead.
Before the period ended the Wolverines rushed for another score on a 1-yard plunge that made it 43-7 Vian.
The Knights cashed in on a 18 yard Brady Norman toss to make it 43-14, but that was too little too late for Henryetta.
With a comfortable lead the Wolverines freshman Lastyn Taylor came in to relieve Wright and connected with fellow freshman Adoff Stahl for the final score of the game, a comfortable 49-14 win.
Vian will remain home next week to take on the keys Cougars (2-5) and the Knights (3-4) remain on the road at Okemah.
