VIAN – The Vian Wolverines took charge early Friday and dominated play in a 48-13 rout of the Warner Eagles.
Warner received the opening kickoff but turned the ball over to Vian on the fourth play of the series after a bad snap. From there it took just five plays before Drayton Fletcher scampered in from the two yard line with 8:43 remaining in the first quarter for his first of three touchdowns on the night giving the Wolverines a 7-0 lead that they would never relinquish.
A Long 51-yard toss down the middle to a wide open Jacob Bradick accounted for the next Vian Tally with 5:40 still remaining in the opening period.
The Eagles would tighten the score on a 74-yard run by Jace Jackson on the first play of their next possession for their first score of the game with 5:19 left in the first to make it 14-7 but that’s as close as Warner would get.
Mason Wright took it in himself on a 23-yard QB keeper to put Vian back on top by two scores still in the first quarter.
As the second period opened Wright scampered 59 yards down the left sideline for his second of the night and a 28-7 Wolverine lead.
On the next Vian Possession Fletcher broke free up the middle for 31 yards and his second tally of the night for a 35-7 lead with 9:16 left in the half.
Wright and Fletcher were a two-man wrecking crew for Vian in the opening half. Wright totaled 108 yards and Fletcher 86 yards and two touchdowns. Wright and Fletcher accounted for 28 of the Wolverines 35 points in the half.
The second half opened with a Jacob Brannick kickoff return for a touchdown and with a blocked extra point try it was quickly 41-7 Vian.
Fletcher was next in the end zone with a 61 yard scamper for his third of the night and a 48-7 Wolverine lead.
Warner would score one more time to make the final score 48-13 Vian.
The Wolverines will go to Roland next Friday and Warner will return home against Okemah.
