SALLISAW – Easton Wolfe tossed a 5-inning no-hitter against the Idabel Warriors to give the Sallisaw Black Diamonds their tenth win in a row to remain undefeated at 10-0.
Idabel kept with Sallisaw early, scoring in the first and second inning, nut in the bottom of the second the Diamonds opened it up notching 7 runs in the bottom of the second to jump to an 8-2, two inning lead.
Sallisaw’s speed was evident in the second when they stole eight total bases and brough thirteen hitters to the plate along with five hits in the inning for the seven run effort. The Black Diamonds managed thirteen total stolen basses over the “run rule” shortened 5 inning contest.
Both the Warriors runs came without hits in the opening two innings. In the first, Tyler Dillard scored on a sacrifice by Anthony Clay to Wolfe, and in the second, it was an error by Sallisaw’s second baseman Johnny Velasquez that allowed Brayden Fielder to cross the plate with Idabel’s second run.
Sallisaw put together 11 hits over the five innings including Tripples by Creed Nelson and Luke Pack, and a double by Ryland Eagle. Eagle and Wolfe led the team in RBI’s, Eagle with 4 and Wolfe with 3.
Sallisaw will return to action Thursday when they take on Claremore (12-3) in the Zebra/Tiger Classic, and Idabel (2-0) returns home to test 3A Valliant (10-7)
