BRAGGS– The Schulter Bulldogs (14-11) jumped out to a slight lead early in the first, but by the end of the opening eight minutes Braggs (22-3) closed in to lead at the end of the period 16-9.
The Warriors never took their foot off the gas scoring 24 in the second stanza to lead at the half 40-26 and never looked back.
Jaylen Melton led the Wildcats in the first half scoring 12 of his 15 points before the break. Daryl Winter added 9 point to the opening half total.
Vinny Bess also had 13 points in the first half for the Bulldogs but was held to just 3 after the break for a nice 16-point night.
The second half was all Wildcats, hitting for 23 points in the third and 25 points in the final period. In all Braggs hit from outside the bonus stripe 16 times for 48 of their 88 point total.
Three of those 3’s came from Lakota Martin who entered the game late but managed to drain three shots from the outside.
The Schulter top scorers were Bess with 16, Bradyn Brown with 12 (all 3-pointers), and Zayln Vingard with 10 points.
The big scorers for Braggs were Winter with 17, Jaylen Melton 15 Trey Ashley 14, Hazen Edwards and Sam Hensley each with 10 points.
Both the Bulldogs and the Wildcats will head for the Regional portion of the tournament. Braggs will open at Kiowa next Thursday, and Schulter will be at Stringtown to meet the runner-up from District 8 in a must-win contest that same night.
