GORE – The Braggs Wildcats were down as many as 8 points twice in the first half Saturday night but rebounded to get the win 49-42 over the 4A Stigler Panthers.
The speed of the Stigler defense had Braggs stymied a bit from time to time in the first half Saturday, but they were able to make the necessary adjustments to rebound to a 7-point victory 49-42.
The Wildcats were down by 7 in the first quarter but rallied back to get within 1 point by the end of the period with four 3-pointers.
In the second period they were down yet again by 7 points but rallied back to lead at the half 24-22 outscoring the Panthers 12-9 in the period.
After the break Stigler got a bit closer outscoring Braggs 12-11, but the final eight minutes belonged to the Wildcats outscoring the Panthers 14-8 in the final session to take the tournament title by a score of 49-42.
Trey Ashley and Daryl Winter topped the scorers for Braggs with 12 points each, Ashleys points all coming from downtown with four 3’s. Jaylen Melton was not far behind hitting for 11 points.
Stigler had two players in double figures. Hunter Self hit for 15 points and Cameron Eakle scores 12 points.
