WEBBERS FALLS – The Webbers Falls Warriors, who are hosting the Arkansas River Classic, easily took their first game of the tournament 9-1 from the Keota Lions Thursday night.

The Lions committed 5 errors over the course of the game along with allowing nine walks and hitting four Warrior batters.

B Robinson got the win for Webbers Falls allowing just three hits over the four innings pitched. The lone Keota run was unearned in the second inning after two consecutive Warrior errors allowed R Buchanan and B McKenzie to reach the base pads before a K Decker grounder scored D Logan who was pinch running for Buchanan.

Keota’s problems started in the bottom of the second inning after a G Shelby bunt advanced a runner to third. A wild pitch scored E Kunkle for Webbers second run before M Shelby walked in front of a A Turley double that scored two for a 4-1 Warrior lead.

Webbers Falls third was more of the same. After an opening walk to G Shelby, Robinson singled to score Shelby after he had stolen his way to third. Robinson later scored on an error by the Lions left fielder to put the Warriors up 6-1.

K Decker came in for Robinson on the hill for the Lions in the bottom of the fourth. After a strikeout to the first hitter troubles started for the reliever.

Robinson singled followed by a walk to B Ward and a sacrifice fly by Stryker Chappell to make it 7-1 Warriors.

Decker then hit Kunkle, walked G Shelby and hit G Carry allowing the eighth Warrior run. The next batter walked on four straight pitches scoring Kunkle for the ninth run and the win for Webbers Falls via the “run rule”

Keota will face the Gans Grizzlies tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 and Webbers Falls will face the Grizzlies at 6:00.
