WARNER – The Lady Eagles took another step towards a golden ball Thursday afternoon by sweeping the Pawhuska Lady Huskies in a double header.
In the first game the Lady Eagles took charge in the opening inning scoring 3 runs in the first and never looking back on the lead to take the game 5-2.
Paisley LaBounty led Warner at the plate with 3 hits in 4 at bats. Tallon Ashmore notched all 5 RBI’s for the Lady Eagles going 2-for-4 with both hits for extra bases.
Her first was a triple with the bases loaded in the first inning that scored LaBounty, L Girty ad A Marks. The net hit was a double in the 4ourth inning that saw Marks and Girty crossing the plate again.
Ace pitcher Ella LaBounty dominated in the circle allowing 2 runs on 5 hits but struck out 16 Huskey hitters. LaBounty faced 31 Pawhuska hitters and sat down 16 for a .516 strike out ratio.
The Lady Huskies runs came in the 6th inning when Emillie Curry singled in Briana Hogue, and Katie Drummond and when Preslee Long was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Pawhuska’s 2nd run.
In the nightcap it was more of the same. LaBounty back in the circle, allowed just 2 hits over the seven innings, walking 3, and striking out 8 hitters.
This time it was Bailey Hughey as the offensive star with 3 hits and 4 RBI’s. Hughey singled in the first driving in A Dishman and P LaBounty. A double in the third inning scored Dishman for the second time, and another single in the 5th inning scored Dishman once again for a 4-0 Warner lead.
The Huskies run came in the seventh inning when E Curry lined a well hit double to right center and later scored on a wild pitch two batters later.
That was it for the scoring, so Warner punched a ticket to the state tournament next week for the first time in school history.
We wish the Lady Eagles the best of luck next week and congratulate Pawhuska for very nice season finishing 19-10 and ranking #12 in division 2A.
