WARNER  – The early portion of Thursday’s event was greeted with warm to hot temperatures of around 82 degrees, but by the end of the day it was an entirely new season! Cloudy, windy and a drop in temperature to 58 degrees.

 Fifteen schools were represented at the second track meet of the month held at Warner Thursday , The Warner Twilight.

It is impossible for us to cover all the schools in attendance, so we concentrated on three locals (Central Sallisaw, Sallisaw, and Warner) along with some athletes from Westville High School.

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds finished second to Poteau in the Girls 4×100 and also placed second in the boys division to Nathan Hale of Tulsa.

The Boys 4×800 went to Warner with the Eagles finishing 11 seconds in front of Sallisaw.

Sydney Weedon of Sallisaw was second to Jordyn Payne from Daniel Webster in the girls 100m hurdles with a time of 17.77.

The boys 110 hurdles also went to a Daniel Webster runner, Terrance Franklin in a time of 17.13 followed by Tiler File of Sallisaw at 18.77 seconds.

Girls 100m also went to Nathan Hale with a win by Victoria Porter in a time of 11.79 with the Black Diamond again second with Abby Qualls 12.43.

In the Boys 100m it was Nathan Hale again with Carmello Williamson at 11.14. The best finish of our local schools was a 6th place from Warner’s Candone Logan at 11.48.

The girls 4×200 went to Poteau at 1:47.30 followed by Sallisaw at 1:50.50 and Warner 1:54.60.

The Black Diamonds finally hir gold in the boys 4×200 with a time of 1:35:74.

Warner’s Kambree Ellis topped the field in the girls 800m with a time of 2:34.78, three seconds in front of Ava Zink from the Poteau Pirates.

The Boys 3200m went to Tyler Baker of Poteau at 10:13.36 with Koulter Drake second just over two seconds behind at 10:15.46.

Ellis just missed pulling of a double in the girls 400m trailing Mckayla Greenshaw by under a second, 1:03.26 to 1:03.81.

Girls 300m hurdles went to the Black Diamonds Sydney Weedon at 53:45 and the Central Tigers Braxin Goodson took the boys division with a time of 44.94.

The boys 1600m was won by Tyler Baker from Poteau 4:48.53 followed by the Eagles Koulter Drake at 4:55.24.

Sallisaw topped the girls 4×400 at 4:24.28 with Warner finishing second at 4:29.58. The boys race went to Nathan Hale 3:38.96 with the Black Diamonds second at 3:42.93, and Central third at 3:45.62.


Westville Yellow Jackets Trinity Duncan ranked Oklahoma Outdoor # 32 had the best throw of her season in the girls shot put and took the event with a throw of 35’-07”.5. Channing Wilson and Macie Gremillion of Sallisaw were second and third with throws of 33’-02.5” and 32’-08” respectively.

Girls discus went to Keira Cox from Poteau 105’-06” with Ava Peters of Warner finishing second at 94’-03”. The boys division was won by Hayden Chaffey from Pocola 132’-05” with Cannon Martindale from Sallisaw second at 127’-05”.

Halle Freeman of Roland and Alexandria Morris from Westville tied in the girls high jump with efforts of 4’-06” and Keedon Mosley of Warner with the best local finish for the boys at 5’-04”.

In the long jump Hannah Palmer of Sallisaw topped the girls at 15’-04.25” and Deon Franklin breaking the 20’ mark for the boys with a jump of 20’-00.25”.
