GORE – The Quinton Savages (1-3) came out on top Tuesday night with a strong second half to defeat the Gore Pirates 44-33.
The score was within a single bucket at the half with Quinton leading Gore 16-14 after the first two quarters of play.
In the second half the Pirates (2-2) lost the range to the basket scoring just 6 points in the third while Quinton began to find the range hitting three 3’s, one each by Johnie Needham, Eli Blankenship and Bo Wagnon.
The final period saw the Savages again outscoring the Pirates 17-13 to cap off the 11 point win.
Blankenship was high scorer for Quinton with 18 points followed by Needham with 11 points. Wagnon just missed double figures with 9, all from beyond the bonus line.
Bryon McDuffie and Burr Jaynes both hit double figures for Gore, McDuffie with 12 and Jaynes with 10 points.
Gore will be off until they take the home court in the Armstrong bank tournament on the 14th. The Savages travel to Talihina and go home to face Kiowa before returning to Gore for the Armstrong Bank Tournament on the 14th of this month.
