SALLISAW – The Black Diamonds started with the lead and never looked back Tuesday as they defeated the Westville Yellow Jackets 57-43 on opening night.
Tae Muskrat-Flynn led the way for Sallisaw with 24 points, 11 of which were from beyond the bonus line for 3-pointers. Cooper Jackson hit for 18 points and Cooper Cox netted 7 points.
After leading 24-13 at the half, Sallisaw opened it up a bit more with 20 points in the third quarter. Three minutes into the third the Black Diamonds doubled up the Jackets 36-18.
Westville had a little push back late in the third and into the final period scoring 30 points in the second half.
Most of the Jackets points came from beyond the 3-point line. In fact, 11 of Westville’s 16 buckets were 3-pointers.
Braydon Snyder led that category with five 3’s for his game total of 15 points. Brock Hammer was the only other Jacket in double figures with 10 points.
Westville returns home Friday to take on Kansas, and Sallisaw hits the road to Claremore to visit the Zebras at 7:00 pm.
