SALLISAW – Wesley Rodriguez managed four goals for Sallisaw, but a strong second half got the Rams past them 5-4.

Rodriguez opened the scoring with 13:54 remaining in the first half when he broke over the right side and beat the Rams Keeper for the opening score.

Five minutes later, Regent tied the game on a goal by Elijah Haney.

For the remainder of the half the Black Diamonds controlled the game , keeping the ball on the offensive side of the field.

Rodriguez added a goal at 15:40 to put Sallisaw on top and another at the 8:21 mark for the hat trick and a two -goal Black Diamond lead.

At the beginning of the second half Brian Castor hit the left post and just missed extending the lead to three.

It was just after that when Regent Prep took over the game controlling play just as Sallisaw did in the opening period.

Haney scored his second of the night just five minutes into the half and Caedmon Fletcher tacked on another at the 18:29 mark to tie the score at 3-all.

Shortly thereafter Shae Smallwood gave the Rams the lead with a goal off a corner kick at 14:54 and Haney completed his hat trick at the 5:43 mark that proved to be the game winner.

The Black Diamonds were awarded a penalty kick at 1:20 remaining and Rodriguez scored his fourth goal of the night to get within one, but that was a close as Sallisaw could get, falling to the Rams 5-4 in a closely contested game.

Sallisaw (5-2-0) will travel to Heavener on April 9th and the Rams host Dove Science next Tuesday
