CHECOTAH – The Checotah Lady Wildcats were in a defensive lock up in the opening period with the Sallisaw Lady Black Diamonds. Neither team hit double figures in the opening eight minutes ending the first quarter with the Lady Cats on top 9-7.
Things turned around before the half with the Lady Diamonds outscoring Checotah 15-5 in the second for a 22-14 advantage going into the half.
After the break, it didn’t get any better for Checotah with Sallisaw opening up a 37-24 lead after three quarters.
Sallisaw had seven players hit the scoreboard with Hannah Palmer on top with 12 points and Kayli Macon next with 9 points.
For the Lady Wildcats it was top scoring Ruby Falkner leading the way with 16 points, 6 of them coming from the foul line where she was 6-for-8 for the night.
Jazlyn Atkins just missed double figures finishing with a 9-point total.
Checotah (11-8) will remain home to take on Muldrow (12-8) Tuesday night while The 20th ranked Lady Black Diamonds (14-6) travel to Stilwell (3-17).
