GORE– The Gore Pirates stopped the Porum Panthers winning streak at nine games with a 6-4 home win Monday afternoon.

The Pirates got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning via a Keeton Rowe double that scored Madden Smith to give Gore a 1-0 lead after two.

They tacked on another in the third inning when Gage Scarberry gave up a free pass to Cruz Ward that forced in the second run of the game for the Pirates for a 2-0 advantage.

In the top of the fourth, the Panthers started a comeback after a Cooper Franklin double turned into a run when a Kyler McGee error on a ball hit by Caden Robinson allowed Trevor Schexnayder, pinch running for the catcher, to score to get the Panthers on the board.

In the fifth, Porum added another 3 runs on just two singles by Ryland Tillery and Luke White along with a walk, a Pirate error, and a hit batsman to put the Panthers on top 4-2.

In the bottom of the inning, the starting pitcher Scarberry got into some trouble by walking two Pirates before a Keiden Denton infield single loaded the bases.

Rowe followed with a single that scored Ward and another walk to Tate Brooksher scored McGee to tie the game at 4.

After the walk  White came in to pitch in relief of Scarberry and he walked James Brasswell to force in another run and put Gore on top 5-4.

Kyler McGee singled on a slow roller to third scoring Rowe to end the scoring at 6-4 in favor of the Pirates.

The Panthers tried to have one more push in the top of the seventh when White reached on an error before Isaiah Sallee hit a liner to short that looked like it was getting through but was stabbed by a diving Hunter McGee who threw back to first to double up White.

Rowe held the hot bat for Gore going 3-for-4 and registering 2 RBI’s. R Tillery accounted for two RBI’s for the Panthers.

Dayton Smith got the Win for the Pirates and Scarberry took the “L” for Porum.

Gore (4-5) will travel to Muldrow Tomorrow to compete in a 5-inning 3-way with 4A Muldrow (3-3) and Webbers Falls (4-1), while Porum travels to Crowder to take on the 2-4 Demons.
