GORE – The Gore Pirates added to their win column total Thursday night by defeating the Wewoka Tigers 34-6.
Gore opened the scoring at 10:08 of the opening period when a bad Tiger snap made it out of their own end zone for a safety and a 2-0 Pirate lead.
On the ensuing Pirate possession Devon Mannon scampered in from the 20 yard line to bring the score to 10-0 after a successful try on a keeper by Tate Brookshire.
After a Tiger three-and-out Gore took the next possession near the goal line but a fumble stopped the drive at the 3-yard line.
Late in the second quarter Mannon put the Pirates up by 16 with only 18 seconds remaining in the half, and Gore went to the lockers leading 16-0.
After the break, with just 1:32 remaining in the third, Ladarious Woods found Cameron Campbell in the end zone for a score to get the score within 10points 16-6.
In the final period Gore found an offensive stride. First it was a rushing score by Mannon to go up 22-6, then at 6:00 another rushing score from the 5 by Bladin McCartney for a 28-6 Pirate advantage.
The final blow came with just 41 ticks left on the clock on a 22 yard rush by Mannon to close out the scoring.
The Pirates(4-3) will host Liberty (4-3) next Friday and the Tigers (1-6) will return home to play undefeated Talihina (6-0).
