GORE – The Gore Pirates (10-6) won their second game of the day defeating the McCurtain Bulldogs 9-4 to head to the Riverside Conference final tomorrow afternoon at 4:00.

Gore jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the opening inning when Gunnar Dozier singled to bring in Jackson Duke for the game’s opening score.

In the third, Hunter McGee and Ben Kirkpatrick singled with one out before an error scored McGee. Dozier followed with a single that scored Kirkpatrick for a 3-0 Pirate lead.

Gore would add to that lead in the fifth. McCurtain pitcher Luke Sandlin had a rough start to the inning with a Single by Lane Ward and a walk to Tyler Lane. Duke and McGee both followed being hit by a pitch scoring Ward. Dozier singled scoring Duke. An error by the Bulldogs shortstop scored McGee for a 7-0 Gore advantage.

Mike McCalister, who blanked the Bulldogs through four innings, ran into a bit of trouble in the fifth. With one out, and after a walk to Ben Xiong, Zane Cooper singled scoring Xiong. KJ Wright and Ben Bond followed with back-to-back doubles for two more McCurtain runs. Bond would make it to the plate on a wild pitch and a steal of home to tighten the game to 7-4.

Gore would respond in the bottom of the fifth. Ward was safe at home on a fielder’s choice. Lane crossed the plate on a wild pitch and the Pirates were back in front 9-4.

Ben Kirkpatrick, the game 1 winner, came in in relief and shut down the Bulldogs in the 6th and 7th putting Gore in the final tomorrow afternoon at 4:00.

McCallister got the win for the Pirates going 4-1/3 giving up 3 runs on 6 hits while striking out 7 batters. Luke Sandlin took the “L” for the Bulldogs also going 4-1/3 giving up 9 runs on 6 hits (4 runs earned) and striking out 5 hitters.

The Bulldogs will play for 3rd place tomorrow at 2:00 against Webbers Falls who lost to Porum 16-6 in the semi-final held at Porum. The Panthers and the Pirates will meet for the title game at Gore 4:00 on Frida
