GORE– The Gore Pirates were eliminated from the OSSAA State tournament by Drumright 57-45 Thursday afternoon.

It started with both teams having surges in the opening period and Gore holding a slim 1-point margin after the first eight minute period.

Burr Jaynes, Cain Cooper, and Tate Brooksher each contributed to Gore’s first period 15-point total. Jaynes with 8, Cooper with 4 and Brooksher with 3 points, the majority of which came from long range.

In the second period it was all Tornadoes. Outscoring the Pirates 18-1 and creating a deficit Gore would never make up.

Cole Gregory and Joseph Bray did most of the damage all from the outside. Bray had four 3-pointers and Gregory had three, all in the first half.

A combination of Gore mistakes, missed shots, errant passes, and lack of rebounding in the second and third periods led to the Pirates demise. Gore was outscored 33-9 over that span resulting in a 47-24 Tornado lead after three.

The Pirates bounced back in the final period, scoring 20 points to Drumright’s 9, but it was way too little and too late giving the Tornadoes the 12-point 57-45 victory.

Jaynes was the only Pirate in double figures with 16 points while Drumright was led by Bray with 20, Gregory with 11, and Jonathan Chavez with 10 points.

Drumright  will move on to face Ripley Friday afternoon needing two more wins to advance to the Area round of the tournament o be held at the Mvskoke Dome February 22nd thru 24th.
