GORE- The final of three games of the opening day of the Class A District tournament at Gore wet as to be expected. The Gans Grizzlies (2-4) took on the Gore Pirates (19-7) in a game that went the minimum 2 ½ innings resulting in a lopsided Pirate victory 18-2.

The story was more with the Grizzlies who knew it was their last game of the season and despite the lopsided score the players and coach alike enjoyed the time on the field.

Gans pitcher Hunter Walters had a tough day with the Pirates who put up 7 runs in the first inning and finished their day with an additional 11 runs in the second.

The final at bat for the Grizzlies allowed some playing time for the players who didn’t get much action in the regular season.

The highlight of the day for Gans came in the top of the third when after Pirate Pitcher Tate Brookshire loaded the bases Jacob Watson connected for a single, driving in the only two runs of the day for the Grizzlies.

The Pirates had a short celebration for their seniors after the game, recognizing their eight graduating players.

Gore will play again Wednesday at 11:00 am against Webbers Falls. The Warriors will have to defeat Gore twice to take the district title. They are 0-2 against the Pirates this season and were outscored 23-3 in those games.
