PORUM– The Porum Panthers 8-run first inning was too much for Webbers Falls (10-11) to overcome Friday afternoon as they fall to Porum 14-7 on senior night.
The Warriors opened the game with 2 runs in the top of the first when Stryker Chappell and Denver Morgan singles scored Isaiah Terrell and Blaze Herriman.
The Panthers started their big inning with an Isaiah Sallee walk, a Michael Wright double and Cooper Franklin getting hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Pitcher Braydon Catron helped his own cause when a ground ball to Brendon Goodman was overthrown at first scoring Sallee and Wright to tie the game.
Chappell then hit Rylind Tillery to re-load the bases before a Kyle Rock sacrifice scored Franklin. Gage Scarberry followed with another sacrifice that scored Catron.
A Waylon Dishman single then scored Rock to take the lead to 5-2. Three consecutive singles by Brayden Stinnett, Sallee and Wright scored Dishman and Stinnett and an error scored Sallee before a Franklin grounder to the pitcher registered the final out of the inning but not before the Panthers established a 8-2 lead after one inning.
Webbers Falls got two back in the second inning when a Braydan Robinson single scored Terrell and Maddux Shelby that cut the lead to four 8-4.
After a scoreless Porum second inning Webber added another run in the top of the third when Shelby was hit by a pitch forcing Morgan across the plate. The Warriors went on to score two more when a Robinson double scored Caden Dishman and Gunner Carey to make it a one run game at 8-7.
In the bottom of the frame Porum opened it back up adding 3 more runs by scoring Dishman, Stinnett and Sallee taking it to 11-7 Panthers after three.
In the Porum fifth Sallee opened with a triple to left center and came in on a Wright ground out sacrifice to second base.
The final runs of the game came in the Panthers half of the sixth when a Dishman sacrifice bunt scored Tillery and a Stinnett single score Kyle Rock for the final run.
Both teams will play again Monday with the Panthers (16-7) remaining home to take on the 15-7 Gore Pirates and the Warriors returning home for Senior night against the 4-7 Keota Eagles
