GORE – The #20 ranked 2A Oktaha Tigers bested the #8 ranked B2 Braggs Wildcats 56-52 Thursday in their opening game of the Gore Tournament.
Braggs opened a 16-8 lead after one quarter due mostly to a 9-point opening 8 minutes by Daryl Winters. Winters went on to score 27 points for the Wildcats for the game.
In the second, Ralf Bacon and Kaden Osborne closed the gap for Oktaha with Bacon scoring 6 and Osborne 7 to knot the score at 25 at the half.
In the second half with the score within 1 point after three periods Bacon finished strong with 8 in the fourth to finish with 22 on the night and going 7-for8 from the charity stripe.
The Wildcats top scorers Winters with 27 and Haden Edwards with 15. Edwards was tops for Braggs from the bonus line with 3, 3-pointers.
Both teams will continue in the Tournament Friday night.
