BRAGGS – The Midway Lady Chargers dominated the Bluejacket Lady Chieftains 57-26 to take the girls B-II area 4 district 1 title.

After a tight first quarter with Midway ahead by only one point, the Lady Chargers pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Chieftains 19-6 and went into halftime with a 27-13 lead.

Briley and Hailey VanBrunt were instrumental in the second period scoring for Midway with Briley scoring 10 points and Hailey 6 points.

After the break all five Lady Chargers scored in the third period. Regan Bowling was the only one to score more than 2 points with 4 in the quarter.

Briley VanBrunt top the charts for Midway with 19 points, Bowling had 14 points and Hailey VanBrunt ended with 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Bluejackets were held to just 4 total points in the third period, 2 each from Aiesha Rowe and Holi Nair. Nair was tops for the night for the Lady Chieftains with a game total of 9 points.

With the win Midway advances to the winners bracket of the regional portion of the tournament to face Paden next Tuesday night, and Bluejacket will move to the consolation bracket to take on Mason.
