The score was 0-0 after six in a pitchers duel between Poteau’s Emma Hackler and the Lady Diamonds Delaney Compton. Both Hackler and Compton limited their opponents to just three hits over the seven inning contest.

The Pirates waited until the top of the seventh when Brystal Hammons unloaded over the center field wall to score herself and Jerra Sommers to give Poteau a 2-0 lead that would hold up for the win.

The Lady Diamonds three hits came from Madi Green, Natalie Gonzalez, and Makenna Bormann none of which yielded any runs.

Hackler finished the game with 13 strike outs and did not allow a single free pass over the seven innings. Poteau’s hits came from Hackler with a double, Sommers with a single, and the homer from Hammons that was the game winner.

The Pirates will be back in action at home tomorrow afternoon against Checotah while the Lady Diamonds travel to Fort Gibson to take on the Tigers, before returning home Thursday to face Stigler.
