WEBBERS FALLS –  The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors made a comeback in the third quarter Monday night but faded in the final period to drop the contest to the Cave Springs Hornets 53-35.

Webbers Falls was leading after the first period 9-8 but faded in the second to trail the Cave Springs Hornets by 11 at the break 26-15.

The third quarter marked a comeback for the Lady Warriors, thanks to 3-pointers by Bridgette Baer, Aubri Spears, and Madison Smith, along with 4 points from Baily Ward.

Baer was the high scorer for Webbers Falls with 12 points, all 3-pointers, with Ward close behind with 9 points.

The Warriors got within 2 points early in the fourth quarter but faded badly being outscored 17-5 in the final period to end the score 53-35 in favor of Cave Springs.

  1. Sawney topped the scoring for the hornets with 20 points, with 15 of those coming from outside the bonus line for 3-pointers. N. Gillinger was also in double figures with 12 points.

The Hornets (2-1) will hit the court again at Gans (0-3) next Monday, and Webbers Falls (1-2) head for the Wilson Tiger Classic tournament and will open against Summitt Christian this Tuesday.
