WARNER – The Central Sallisaw Lady Tigers topped the Warner Lady Eagles 48-37 in their home opener Friday night.
The Tigers Sara Williams, Paris Campbell and Cambree Bair were instrumental in the Central victory with Williams and Bair each netting 15 points and Campbell also in double figures with 10 points.
Warner kept it close in the opening quarter trailing by just 3 points 9-6, but the second eight minutes proved to be fatal with Central more than doubling up the Lady Eagles 19-8 to take a 28-14 lead at halftime.
Campbell and Williams aided the second quarter drive with Williams scoring 8 points and Campbell netting 7 in the frame.
Williams hit for three three-pointers on the night and Campbell with 2 along with going 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
Warner, outscored 15-9 in the third, came back in the final period outscoring Central 14-5 in the final period, but it was too little too late for the Lady Birds who fell short by 11 points.
Isabella Henson and Freshman Paisley LaBounty led the way for Warner with 7 points each, and Kambree Ellis followed with 6 followed closely by Adyson Dishman with 5 points.
Warner will hit the court again next Tuesday night when they host Oktaha, and Central will face Braggs in the Gore Tournament on Thursday.
