
ROLAND – The Gore Lady Pirates (2-10) hung with the Roland Rangers Tuesday night when they abandoned ship in the bottom of the fourth inning. After tying the score in the top of the inning Roland plated 10 runs in the bottom of the frame to force the run rule after four innings.
Roland (5-5) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning putting 4 runs a crossed the plate before the Pirates could achieve the first out of the inning. An Scarlett Qualls double ended the scoring in the inning with a double that brought Addyson Clark in for the 6th run of the inning.
In the top of the third inning the Lady Pirates almost tied the game scoring 5 runs thanks to singles by Kendra Huckbay, with two in the inning, , Cheyenne Davidson, Emily Daily, Kynley Webb and Paige Curran.
The top of the fourth saw Gore tie the score at 6 with an unearned run on an error by the Rangers Kynlei Earnhart off the bat of River Shoemake, that scored Cadi Shoemake to tie the game.
It was in the bottom of the fourth inning when the wheels fell off for Gore. Aided by four walks, and error and a pass ball, the Rangers were able to score 10 runs in the inning forcing the run rule and ending the game 16-6 after 4 innings.
The Pirates will take to the field again Friday when they return home against Keys and Roland will travel to Muldrow to take on the 4A Bulldogs.
