WARNER – The Warner Lady Eagles (10-5) were on top early but faded late to squeak out a narrow 28-23 win over the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs.

Warner doubled up No. 4 ranked McCurtain in each of the first two quarters (6-3, and 8-4) to hold a 14-7 lead at the half.

The Lady Bulldogs defense was evident holding Warner to just 28 points, well below Warner’s season average.

Ella LaBounty was the top point getter for the Lady Eagles with 12 points, and sister Paisley was next with 6-points. Senior Kambree Ellis also netted 6 points on the night.

For the Lady Dogs it was Kaylee Culwell providing most of the scoring with 13 points and Avire Ford and Abbygail Bales each adding 3-pointers from beyond the bonus stripe.

Warner will continue in the Winners Bracket Thursday at the Event Center at 6:00 pm in a meeting with 3A Westville who earned their spot with a 66-19 route over the Lady Wolverines.
