WARNER– In a very tight game, the Warner Lady Eagles came on late with three runs in the sixth inning to pull ahead of the Quinton Lady Savages and take the win in the nightcap of a double header.
Ella Labounty had some struggles in the circle but managed to pitch her way out of trouble several times for the win.
Labounty struck out 16 Quinton hitters over the seven innings, allowing just 2 hits and 1 unearned run. Labounty walked 6 Lady Savages but two were intentional free passes.
Warner got on the board first with a single run in the bottom of the opening inning off the bat of Tallon Ashmore that scored Aubri Franco to give Warner a 1-0 lead.
There was no more scoring until the fifth inning when Quinton’s Aliviah Daniels scored on a pass ball to tie the score at 1-all.
In the Eagles half of the sixth inning, Bailey Hughey and Franco lead off with singles in front of Labounty who was intentionally walked to load the bases.
An Ashmore sacrifice grounder scored Hughey and a fielders choice grounder to Madilyn Fulton scored Franco to give Warner a 3-1 lead.
Addison Upton grounded out to Fulton, but the play resulted in another Warner run when Ashmore crossed the plate on the play to put Warner in front 4-1 after six innings.
Labounty provided two strikeouts in the top of the seventh inning along with a groundout by Lillee Powell to end the game.
Warner will face Pittsburg at the Eufaula tournament on Thursday and Quinton (11-8) will return home to take on second ranked Whitesboro (12-1).
