GORE- The Pirates defeated Webbers Falls 10-0 Tuesday afternoon in the second of three district tournament games at Pirate Field in Gore.
The Warriors fell behind quickly in the first inning to the high powered Pirate offense. Pitcher Braydon Robinson hit Jackson Duke on a 1-2 count to put the lead-off runner on base.
An error on a bunt by Hunter McGee put runners on first and third before a Ben Kirkpatrick fly ball scored Duke and moved McGee to third. A Gabe Dozier fly out to right fielder Caden Dishman scored McGee to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead.
Webbers Falls woes continued with a walk to Dane Perriman followed by Gunnar Dozier getting hit by a pitch. A Robinson wild pitch scored Kirkpatrick and a Stryker Chappell error scored Perriman and Duke and it was 5-0 Pirates.
After a scoreless second for the Warriors, Gore added on three more runs in the bottom of the frame against relief pitcher Brendon Goodman, on just two hits and an error along with another wild pitch and hit batter.
In the top of the third, despite an early double by Isaiah Terrell, and a Maddux Shelby walk, Webber was unable to score keeping the score at 8-0.
It wasn’t until the bottom of the fourth when a Jackson Duke Double and a Dishman error on a ball hit directly into the sun in Right scored the 9th and 10th runs to end the game via the run rule 10-0.
The Warriors will get another shot at Gore Wednesday morning at 11:00 but will have to defeat the Pirates twice to keep Gore from taking the district crown.
