WARNER– The Warner Eagles faced off with the Vian Wolverines for the second time within four weeks with the same result. Back in late January, the Eagles Defeated Vian in the semi-finals of the Warner Eagles Tournament and won by just 6 points 62-56.

This time it was the District Title game of the 2024 OSSAA playoffs with a spread of 11 points to take the District 4 Class 2A crown 48-37.

The 13th ranked Eagles led throughout the game. With a 24-17 halftime lead, Vian matched the Eagles in the third 29 points each, but Warner capped off the final period besting the Wolverines 12-8 for the 48-37 win.

Jace Jackson led the way for Warner scoring more than half of the Eagles points with 25. Jaxon Cash was next with 11 and the big man, 6’-7” Blake Ellis had 8, including a crowd pleasing break-away dunk in the second half.

Yonsi Grass topped the Wolverine scorers with 16 points, followed by Masyn Wright with 12. Grass and two from long range for Vian and Wright was 5-for-5 from the foul line.

The Wolverines will move on to the Regional portion of the tournament next Thursday afternoon to face the loser of the Wister vs. Panama in a must win contest at 2:30, and Warner continues on in the Winners bracket to match up with the winner of the Wister – Panama game at 7:30.

With a win next week Warner is guaranteed a spot in the Area Tournament to be held at Roland February 29th thru March 2nd.
