WARNER– With a convincing 60-47 win over the Wister Wildcats the Warner Eagles are guaranteed a spot in the Area IV tournament in Roland beginning on the 29th of February.

It was a display of defense as the Warner Eagles kept the Wildcats on the outside all night and dominated the boards with Blake Ellis on both ends of the court.

Ellis turned in 6 blocked shots, all on the inside, forcing Wister to shoot the low percentage shots from long range.

Trailing by 20 at the half, the Wildcats made a push in the third period outscoring Warner 19-9 to get the game within 10 points, but that is a close as they would get.

The Eagles defense stymied Wister for over a minute as they tried to get the ball inside to score.

Jace Jackson topped the scoresheet for Warner with 21 points, 8 coming from the foul line where he was a perfect 8-for-8 on the night.

Jaxon Cash was close behind with 18 points and Ellis accounted for 10. The three Musketeers (Jackson, Cash, and Ellis accounted for 49 of the 60 point total.

In all the Eagles were 80% from the line going 12-for-15 from the charity stripe.

The Wildcats were led by Landon Donaho with 16 points, followed by Dartyn Meeks with 15 and Kord Fenton with 8 points.

Meeks scored 9 points in the comeback 3rd period for the Wildcats and Fenton knocked down 6 of his 8 in that period.

Donaho hit for 10 of his 16 in the final period but Wister came up short in the 13-point Warner win.

13th ranked Warner (14-10) will take on No. 2 Pocola (24-1) Saturday night for the Regional title at 7:30 at Wilburton, and No. 17 Wister (19-10) will play a must win game against Wewoka (6-17) Friday night to remain in the Class 2A tournament.
