Braggs- The No.5 ranked Braggs Wildcats waisted no time getting on top of the Buffalo Valley Buffaloes Friday night scoring 29 points in the opening quarter.
The Bisons were stymied by the Braggs defense and found themselves down 29-9 at the end of the first period.
Trey Ashley was instrumental in the Wildcats burst, scoring 10 points in the opening period including three 3-pointers. Ashley went on to score 18 points on the night including nine buckets from outside the bonus line.
Hensley is the 3-point ace for the Wildcats. He leads the team with an outstanding 82, 3-pointers for the season going in to Friday’s contest. Hensley scored 19 points for the game
Point guard Jaylen Melton was held to 8 points. Melton led the team in assists and was the key play maker for Braggs. Melton leads the team in season assists along with field goal percentage and free throw percentage.
For the Bisons it was Koen Howze topping the Buffalo Valley score chart wit 15 points on the night.
Friday night’s win for the Wildcats was the 300th career win for coach Scott Hensley
Braggs advances to the District final tomorrow night at 7:30pm when they face the Schulter Bulldogs who defeated the Watts Engineers earlier in the night 62-59 in their semi-final contest.
