GORE – Scoreless after three innings the game opened up in the fourth with 5 runs by the Porter Pirates in the top of the inning.

Gore responded in the bottom of the frame scoring just a single run on a wild pitch by Porter’s Tyler Durrett. Hunter McGee, who reached on the second third strike passed ball of the inning, scored on the wild pitch.

Durrett had the Pirates hitters baffled all night. The lefty notched 14 K’s over 4 2/3 innings while allowing just two hits and walking 4 batters.

In the bottom of the fifth Durrett got in control trouble by walking three Pirates and hitting another along with a wild pitch that allowed Gore 2 runs. After the hit batsman, Durrett was relieved by Jesse Reeves who had similar problems.

Reeves walked the first two batters he faced before allowing a double to Keeton Rowe and a single by Kyler McGee to put the Gore Pirates on top 9-5 after a fifth inning that lasted almost an hour.

After a walk in the top of the sixth, Dayton Smith was relieved by Tate Brooksher who struck out one and closed out the inning with a long fly ball to center that was fielded by Rowe for the final out of the inning.

In the bottom of the inning, Gore added 4 more runs via singles by Brooksher and  James Brasuell along with walks to McGee, Smith, and  Keiden Denton

The Gore Pirates go on the road to face the Gans Grizzlies (0-1) Thursday. The Porter Pirates (8-3), stay on the road at 2A Nowata Ironmen (0-1) Friday in a 10:00 am start.
