
The schedule said Westville, but it was the #6 OSSAA ranked class B, Buffalo Valley Buffaloes (17-5) that came to challenge Vian and challenge they did. It was a pitchers dual all day as both teams put up just one run in regulation.
The Buffaloes notched one early on in the first inning and it wasn’t until the bottom of the sixth when Vian tied it up resulting in two overtime frames.
With both teams scoring in the first extra inning making the score 2-2, The second overtime became the game decider.
The Wolverines kept the Buffaloes off the scoreboard in the top of the inning. With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 9th Lakayla Drew came through with a single to shallow center to give Vian the 3-2 Win.
The Wolverines (12-5) will take the field again Saturday in the Central tournament against Roland (7-12), and the Buffaloes return to class B play win less Earlsboro (0-9) Thursday.
