
GORE– It was a dominating defense in the third period that put the Pirates (12-3) on top. Gore held the Panama Razorbacks (9-9) to just 5 points in that stanza to get their sixth consecutive win 44-39.
The contest was tied after the first period (7-7) and Razorbacks held a slim 18-16 lead at the break but in the third quarter, Gore allowed just 5 points while scoring 12 to re-gain the lead and survive with a win after a 16-16 final eight minutes.
It was Ben Kirkpatrick Saturday who led the Pirates with 13 points. Kirkpatrick went 4-for-4 from the foul line in the final period to help keep Gore on top. Noah Cooper was next with 11 points and Jackson Duke finished with 7 points.
Panama was led by Brex Caldwell with 12, followed by Tyler Simkins with 9 and John Imbush who had 8 points.
The Razorbacks return home Monday to take on Leflore (10-8) and Gore will try for their 7th in-a-row when they travel to Keota (6-10) on Tuesday.
