PORUM – The 18th ranked Gore Pirates (9-3) advance in the winners bracket by defeating Gans (2-8) by 10 points 47-37.
The Pirates losses came at the hands of two Class 3A teams and #4 ranked Okay (15-1) earlier this month.
Thursday night the challenge came from the Gans Grizzlies who Gore will visit next Tuesday in a regular district contest.
Gore gained the advantage in the first quarter and never looked back. Noah Cooper scored 9 first quarter points to boost the Pirates to a 17-13 lead after one period.
The Grizzlies matched Gore’s output in the second period but never could catch up. The low scoring second half also went to the Pirates 19-13 to send them to the final Saturday night.
Cooper was high man for Gore with 21 points and Logan Weese topped the scoring for the Grizzlies with 18 points, half of which came in the opening period.
After Fridays tournament action the two will meet again in Gans next Tuesday in District play.
