
WEBBERS FALLS – The Porum Panthers won their opening game of the Webbers Falls Invitational over Oaks Mission 7-0 Thursday afternoon.
After a single run in the first inning it took Porum until the fourth to unload on the Oaks Mission Warriors.
After Brayden Stinnett was hit by a pitch and consecutive walks to Gage Scarberry and Kyle Rock, Stinnett scored on a wild pitch by the Oaks pitcher. Pitcher Isaiah Sallee popped up in the infield but the Warriors catcher left the plate open after the fly out allowing Rock to alertly advance to home.
Rylind Tillery then was also hit by a pitch. Cooper Franklin followed with a double that scored Michel Right and Jr Robinson who was pinch running for Tillery to take the score to 6-0 with two outs.
Trevor Schexnayder came in to run for Franklin and stole third before Braydon Catron’s single scored Schexnayder for the Panthers seventh run.
Sallee got the shutout win for Porum allowing just two his and striking out eight Warriors. Play is scheduled to resume Friday and Saturday in the eight-team tournament
