WARNER– If you are a fan of defense and close games this one was for you.
The Warner Eagles (9-11) and the Class A No. 4 Ranked Okay Mustangs (20-2) were never separated by more than 4 points until the final period. The Mustangs went on a 9-point run in the fourth that was too much for Warner to cover.
The score was tied one minute into the last quarter at 32 all. The Eagles could not muster a single point for 4:10 while Okay, who trailed by 2 points at the beginning of the period, went on the run that put them ahead for good.
Warner was held to just 8 points in the final session while the Mustangs tallied 16 points in the period.
Ashton Walters topped the scoresheet for the Mustangs with 13 points and Chase Clark followed with 10 for the night.
Jace Jackson hit for 18 total points with 12 points coming from beyond the 3-point-line. Julian Hensley just missed double figures with 9 points.
Okay has no more regular season games scheduled until the Class A playoffs begin Friday night. The Mustangs will be at home for the district playoffs. With a first round bye, they will play next in the second round on February 11.
Since class 2A playoffs start a week later, Warner has one regular season game remaining when they go on the road to take on Hulbert Thursday night in their regular season finale.
