VIAN– A close game almost got away from the Vian Lady Wolverines (5-12) Saturday night when they faced the Lady Knights from Henryetta and pulled out a 49-39 win.
Just after half, early in the third quarter, Vian seemed to lose the touch and gave up turnover after turnover that allowed the Knights (2-8) to close the gap and take a 2-point lead before the quarter’s end.
In the fourth however, the Homecoming queen Maci Smith came to life scoring 11 of her 14 point total to propel Vian to a 10-point victory 40-39
Rebel Simon was also in double figures with 11 points and Avery Wright just missed doubles with 9.
Mckayla Greenshaw was a one woman wrecking crew for Henryetta, scoring 26 of the Lady Knights 39 point total.
The Knights will return to play #5 Preston (16-4) next Tuesday, while Vian travels to Central Sallisaw to take on the Tigers.
