
BRAGGS – One of the closest contests of the season took place Thursday night at the Wildcats Den in Braggs. The Lady Cats (7-4) took on the Haileyville Warriors (1-10) in a barn-burner that went down to the final minutes.
The first quarter went to Braggs 14-13 Alex Chandler showing the way for Braggs with 9-points in the opening eight minutes. Krislynn Williams led the Warriors with 7, with two being 3-pointers.
In the second, it was Jennifer Garcia with 7 for Haileyville points with Chandler and Zoey Hall providing 8 for Braggs to end the first half tied at 24-all.
After the break the third quarter went to the Wildcats by 2 points, leaving Haileyville trailing 41-39 after three. Hall for the Wildcats and Garcia for the Warriors each had 3, 3-pointers in the period.
The final quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw Chandler at the charity stripe 12 times hitting 7 of 12 for Braggs with the Lady Wildcats squeaking out the win 55-51.
Chandler and Hall led the wildcats with 29 and 21 points respectively wile the warrior points were mostly contributed by Garcia with 24, followed by Williams with 10 and Liv Hauff and Natalie Silver each with 6 points.
The Warriors will be back in action Friday when they return home for a matchup with Bokoshe (0-6) while the Lady Cats await Class “A” 15th ranked Webber Falls (5-0) on January 4th.
