GORE – The Gore Lady Pirates played a close game all evening with the Porter Pirates but just couldn’t hold on late in the final period.
The two teams were tied in a low scoring 6-6 opening quarter but Porter opened it up in the second scoring 21 points to Gore’s 12. Raylee Allison provided the lions share of the points in that quarter scoring 11 of Porters 21. Allison was the high lady point getter with 22 points for the night.
The Lady Pirates from Gore made a game of it in the third outscoring Porter 17-6 to lead the game 35-33 after three quarters.
Kennedy Williams and Lindsey Pierce led the charge, each scoring 6 points in the quarter. Pierce ended with 13 points for the night Williams with 12 points. Oaklei Thornton was also in double figures with 11 points.
With 4 minutes remaining gore trailed by just one point 41-40 but a Porter flurry and Gore free throw troubles, netting only 4-of-11 attempts from the free throw line, led Porter to the 53-46 win.
The Porter ladies will move on to face division leading Porum Saturday night for the district title.
