GORE – The Lady Pirates traded their gowns for sneakers after homecoming ceremonies Friday night but fell just shy of upsetting neighboring Webbers Falls.

Gore trailed by only 3-points after one and outscored the Lady Warriors 11-9 in the second to take it to the lockers with a 1-point game 23-22.

Anistyn Garner and Samantha Griffith each netted two three pointers in the third to help Webber move out to a 39-33 lead. Garner had three 3’s for the game and Griffith, Teralynn Colston and Bridgett Baer each had two.

Colston was Webbers Falls top point getter with 21, followed by Garner with 18 points.

Colston took advantage of a foul-filled final period by scoring 11 points from the free throw line in the final session alone and going 13-for-16 for the game.

Kennedy Williams top the scoresheet for the Pirates with 17 points.

The Pirates (5-10) will be right back on the court Saturday for a make-up game with 2A Haskell (12-7) before taking on Hulbert (8-11) next Monday. Webbers Falls (14-4) face Indianola (5-14) next Tuesday in a game that will be covered by CSSNOK.
