WEBBERS FALLS – The Webbers Falls Warriors got by the Cave Springs Hornets in a close contest Monday night 55-52.
Both teams started slowly Monday night combining for just 21 points in the opening quarter. 13 of those points belonged to the Cave Springs Hornets who led 13-9 after one period.
The roles were reversed in the second with Webbers Falls outscoring the Hornets 11-5 in the second to go into the lockers leading by 2-points 20-18 at the break.
In the second half both teams returned blows in a tight contest that in the most part was never separated by more than 2 points.
Luke Pierce was the top point getter for Webbers Falls, scoring 15 points. The other two Warriors in double figures were Thadan Yandell with 11 and Gunnar Shelby with 10 points.
For the Hornets it was Talon Holmes leading the way with 20 points and Dustin Noisewater with 10 points.
Holmes, although the top scorer for Cave Springs, went 3-for-9 from the charity stripe in the second half and only 5-for-14 chances overall.
The Hornets will be off until Next Monday when they visit Gans (0-2), and the Warriors open with Chaney Vally (1-2) in the Wilson Tiger Classic tournament this Tuesday night.
