SALLISAW –

The 4th inning was the big difference in Thursday’s game at Sallisaw. Tied 0-0 after three innings and with two outs in the top of the 4th, a costly error with the bases loaded ended up allowing 7 unearned Panther runs to break the game open for Stigler.

It all started with a hard hit ball to third that was mishandled by Channing Wilson, scoring Nolee Blanchett who had singled earlier in the inning. Singles by Cambry Cook and Caitlin Lovett contributed to the Panther rally, along with a Payton Mecom double.

Sallisaw added 1 run in the bottom of the inning on a two out single by Jaycie Cox, scoring Sydney Weedon, but Delaney Compton was out at home trying to score to end the inning.

In the top of the Panther third, Dally Engle scorched a ball over the center field wall for a two run homer that also scored Jordan Johnson to put Stigler up 9-1 after five.

The Lady Diamonds scored in the bottom of the seventh on a Maddi Green double that scored Cox, but it was too little too late, and Stigler walked away with the 11-2 win.

Cambry Cook got the W in the circle for the Panthers allowing 2 runs on 8 hits while striking out five Sallisaw hitters.

Sallisaw (1-4) will be back in action next Monday when they take on (4-2) Broken Bow at 4:00, and Stigler (6-2) returns home this Friday to take on 6A Norman North (3-4) in a 1:30 matinee.
