SALLISAW – The Black Diamonds stayed undefeated at 5-0 by topping the Heavener Wolves Thursday night 5-3.
From the onset, the goals came fast and furious by both teams. The Wolves opened the scoring at 34:40 on a goal by Heavener’s Zaid Rodriguez.
Black Diamonds Captain Wesley Rodrigues was awarded a penalty kick for a foul in the box and took full advantage tying the score at 26:41.
Just 43 seconds later Heavener took the lead back, but Rodriguez nailed a header for his second of the night in the left corner of the goal to tie the score again at 2-all.
Sallisaw took their first lead of the night on a Ceasar Moreles goal that found the top right corner of the net from the 25 yard line with 5:42 remaining in the half.
On a free kick from the 45 yard line, Heavener found a way to deflect the ball into the net to tie the game at 3. The play was reviewed and discussed for a possible Wolves off sides, but the play stood, and the goal was good to tie the score.
The Black Diamonds captain completed his hat trick with his third goal of the night with only 33 seconds remaining in the half on a header off a free kick from the 30 yard line that put Sallisaw up 4-3 at the half.
In the second half it was Sama Salinas with yet another Sallisaw header adding to the Diamonds lead at the 10:50 mark. Salinas’s goal capped the scoring for the game resulting in the 5-3 Black Diamonds win.
Sallisaw (5-0) will host Victory Christian, who are currently 2-0 but have three contests before the two meet on the 3rd of April. Heavener will return home to host Fort Gibson (0-3) on the 25th of this mon
