CHECOTAH – On Thursday afternoon, the Warner Lady Eagles advanced in the Area OSSA Tournament with a 50-47 victory over the Colcord Lady Hornets.

An impressive all Freshman squad from Colcord kept up with Warner throughout the game taking a few brief leads but eventually falling to the Lady Eagles.

Warner held the Lady Hornets scoreless for nearly five minutes in the first quarter, establishing a 9-0 advantage. However, this lead was erased before the end of the period as Gracie Evans made two three-point shots and Riley James added another, resulting in a 9-9 tie at the conclusion of the opening eight minutes.

During a defensive second quarter, the Lady Eagles edged past Colcord 8-7, giving them a slim one-point advantage at halftime.

After the break the game took a total reverse with both squads netting over 20 points in the third quarter.

Warner’s third quarter was led by Senior Kambree Ellis, who contributed 10 points. Allison Dishman and Ella LaBounty each added a three-point field goal, while Ava Peters scored another four points, resulting in a total of 20 points for the period.

The Lady Hornets scored 22 points in the third quarter, aided by four 3-pointers—two from Page Hamby and one each from Evans and Sambra Haggard—giving them a 1-point lead entering the final period.

Warner’s 7-point run early in the final period put the Lady Hornets behind. Colcord had to foul to regain possession, sending Paisley LaBounty to the line where she hit 3 of 4 free throws to secure the Lady Eagles’ 50-47 win.

Warner stays in contention and will play Panama on Friday, needing two more wins to reach the State tournament to be held March 10–14.
