SALLISAW –  The Hilldale Hornets (10-6) handed Sallisaw their second loss in a row Tuesday night defeating the Black Diamonds 4-2.

Hilldale opened the scoring at 18:21 with a Hayden Pickering to put the Hornets on top 1-0.

Christian Morales knotted things up twelve minutes later for the Black Diamonds to tie the score at 1-all. Rustyn Romero had an assist on the play.

The goal of the game came from Sallisaw’s Wesley Rodriguez who put the ball in the upper left corner of the net on a header from 30 yards out to give the Diamonds a 2-1 lead with 11 minutes left in the half.

Hilldale tied the game at 2 on a goal by Liam Sargent and took the lead on a miscue by Sallisaw’s keeper Anthony Adams who allowed the ball to get between his legs on a soft shot by Valente Espinosa.

The Hornets went on to score another in the second half for the 4-2 victory.

Hilldale (13-2) will return home for their regular season finale with the 7-5 Poteau Pirates, and Sallisaw (15-2) will go on the road to take on 3-9 Wagoner.
